The Science curriculum has three interrelated strands: science understanding, science as a human endeavour and science inquiry skills.
The science understanding comprises four sub-strands:
- biological
- chemical
- physical
- Earth & Space sciences.
At Al-Iman College we use the primary connections program that is aligned with Australia Curriculum to teach Science. Primary Connections focuses on developing students’ knowledge, understanding and skills in both science and literacy. At the beginning of science unit, the students will engage in various tuning-in activities. These provide a springboard for the formulation of student-initiated investigation questions and play a guiding role in the science inquiry unit. We also organise science incursions and excursions as needed to provide hands on experience through various activities and experiments.
